A Uganda gorilla trekking permit costs USD 800 per person, covering a one-hour visit with a habituated mountain gorilla family in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. We secure this permit for you as part of every gorilla safari package.
At least 3 to 6 months ahead for peak season travel (June–September and December–February), since Uganda issues a strictly limited number of permits daily and popular dates sell out well in advance.
Standard trekking gives you one hour with a fully habituated gorilla family. Habituation, available only in Bwindi's Rushaga sector, lets you spend a full day with a family still being acclimated to human presence.
It varies day to day — treks can take anywhere from 1 to 8 hours depending on where the gorilla family is ranging, over steep, sometimes muddy forest terrain. Our guides set a pace suited to your group.
