Adventures, Mountain Hikes & Beach Escapes

A Gorilla Nests Safari does not have to end at the forest edge. Combine your gorilla trek with a Rwenzori mountain hike, conquer Kilimanjaro, kayak through volcanic craters, thunder down the Nile in a raft, or unwind on Zanzibar's turquoise shores.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

A Uganda gorilla trekking permit costs USD 800 per person, covering a one-hour visit with a habituated mountain gorilla family in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. We secure this permit for you as part of every gorilla safari package.

At least 3 to 6 months ahead for peak season travel (June–September and December–February), since Uganda issues a strictly limited number of permits daily and popular dates sell out well in advance.

Standard trekking gives you one hour with a fully habituated gorilla family. Habituation, available only in Bwindi's Rushaga sector, lets you spend a full day with a family still being acclimated to human presence.

It varies day to day — treks can take anywhere from 1 to 8 hours depending on where the gorilla family is ranging, over steep, sometimes muddy forest terrain. Our guides set a pace suited to your group.

Yes — most of our packages combine gorilla trekking with chimpanzee tracking in Kibale, Big Five game drives in Queen Elizabeth or Murchison Falls, or a Rwanda and Kenya cross-border extension.

Yes — our packages span every tier, from budget-friendly community lodges through to luxury fly-in safaris with private charter flights and Uganda's most exclusive lodges.
